Connect the paperwork to the proposal
Ask which diamond a report describes, particularly when a ring contains several stones. If the report is issued by GIA, use GIA Report Check to look up the report record. Matching an online record is one useful step; it does not by itself prove that the loose stone or mounted jewel shown to you is that same diamond.
Review more than the stone
Examine the ring or pendant as a finished object. Ask about the setting, condition, fit, relevant care and any maintenance needs. Request an itemised description showing the diamond and metal details, together with the final price and order terms. Independent inspection may be useful if you need additional assurance.
Your practical checklist
- Ask which stone or stones the report covers.
- Check the report record with the issuing laboratory.
- Discuss any treatment or origin disclosures.
- Retain the quote, invoice and relevant documents.
Buyer mistakes to avoid
Avoid relying on a fog test, sparkle video or familiar laboratory logo alone. A report number copied into a message is not the same as verifying the actual piece and its documentation.
The Azure Jewels recommendation
Ask Azure to show the proposed jewel and explain the applicable documents before requesting payment. If you want an independent assessment, discuss that before the purchase is final.
